Questions?

  • No not at all, all classes you attend will be suitable for all ages and abilities.

Yoga is about self-connection and caring for your body and mind, via the breath and the yoga poses. So it’s not about how far you can go and how flexible you are, it’s about your awareness in the pose and the peace that brings.

If you are a complete beginner please get in touch with me and I am very happy to answer any questions you have :)

  • The Hatha yoga I teach is the Sonia Sumar Method, which is rooted in a classical Indian practice.

We start with a relaxation or some chanting to warm up the lungs and deepen the breath, then eye exercises to work on eyesight and relax the face, then we will complete with asanas (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing exercises) and end with deep relaxation.

  • If you are attending on Zoom, you will ideally need a space where you will not be disturbed, a yoga mat, a blanket for the relaxation, and a pillow or cushion if you need support to sit.

  • The intention of the online Zoom classes is particularly focused on helping with stress and mobility in lockdown.

So I teach primarily to release tension and tightness from the body, for example from the neck and shoulders, to connect with our breathing and slow down the mind, and to connect with the heart to forget our worries and stresses :)

  • I came to do some stretching and found the class was very relaxed, very accessible and joyful! The way we moved through the poses it felt very effortless, the hour was over just like that. There wasn't a moment where I was thinking, I can't do this, or I don't want to.
