About

Are you and your child coming to yoga with stress, tension & / or weakness in the body? This was me too.

When I had lost connection with my body - yoga was the light that came through the cracks.

Now my body is my constant companion and guide through life. When experiencing stress, I can relax and help myself through.

We all go through struggles mentally, emotionally and physically. It can be particularly difficult and isolating when your child has additional needs and you have to fight for the right support in a world that doesn’t understand.

We also know the unique joy, beauty and love of the SEND world! Yoga is also about being full of love - and not perfect!

The typical world often encourages us to disconnect from our bodies, our inner voice and the natural world around us. It’s my mission to give your child and you a moment of deep peace and reconnection in every class.

Through this reconnecting I love to see students find new optimism for life, and follow their heart to greater happiness.

#My Story

I did my first yoga teacher training in Goa, India in 2014 and met my forever teacher Sonia Sumar in 2017.

Her yoga classes impacted my body and mind and healed me like no others had before - and after seeing Sonia work with kids with additional needs I knew this was all I wanted to do.

The classes were fun and combined challenge with stable alignment and focus. The integral element of deep relaxation at the end was life-changing.

I’ve always been drawn to the timelessness of yoga and this is Yoga For All Abilities all over.

#Who I serve

I work with children and adults with additional and complex needs and their families.

It’s my strong belief that yoga is often misunderstood. And anyone who has an interest in yoga should be able try it!

The benefits of yoga are for everyone regardless of their body, ability or life circumstances.

If you would like to have a conversation about how I might be able to help, please don’t hesitate to get in touch :)

#How I operate

Yoga is not something to do once in a while. It is part of a thriving lifestyle, with deep benefits coming through persistant practice.

This comes not just from my own experience but from the science - which says that the benefits of yoga wear off after 8 days but by practicing twice a week you gain more than double the benefits of one session!

I am currently half way through a 600 hours Diploma in Yoga Therapy with the Minded Institute. Here we learn about almost every physical and mental health condition. I love hitting the books and knowing more about the body and mind.

However, I have been taught never to judge a book by it’s cover! It’s my pleasure to connect beyond any label to every unique soul I meet :)

#My mission

Bringing real yoga to people who might think of it as acrobatics or meditating on a rock all day.

Yoga connects us to the meaning of our unique life.

It makes our lives deeper and richer, and finding purpose looks different for every person in this world.

It is truly a gift of self-awareness and self-love :))

And once we are grounded in that self-love we are able to share that deep love and peace with others. Not just our families but with our communities, and the whole planet!

Testimonials

  • "I always feel great after my yoga session. I have some physical issues that mean I am almost permanently in a wheelchair. It feels great to get out of my wheelchair and to be supported by Laura in doing my yoga. It relaxes both my body and mind. It also helps with my breathing, which at times is difficult for me to do. When the staff team let me know I'm going to yoga, I'm always excited. I've never not wanted to attend because I enjoy it so much."

    Keith, Kentish Town

  • "Aaron had a fantastic one-to-one session. Laura was able to get him fully focused and engaged in all the yoga poses. A triumph, as new things are not always enjoyable for him. Laura was very patient and gave Aaron much needed time to grasp what to do."

    Brigette, carer

  • "I do yoga with Laura. She helps me with stretching and yoga poses. Yoga makes me happy."

    George, Archway

  • "My son Hewitt gained a lot on stretching and body movements. He has severe epilepsy on top of autism and learning disabilies. Yoga has helped him to keep his mobility, flexibility and maintain his quality of life. With the patience of Laura, he could enjoy the time in class and had smiles and satisfaction. Thank you Laura."

    Josephine, mother

  • "Adam really enjoyed the classes both in person and also via Zoom. He was looking forward to them and managed to relax despite his pronounced ADHD."
